Ninguna de estas seis piezas empezó por un guion. Cada una empezó por personas aprendiendo algo juntas — y el orden en que aparecieron dibuja un camino.

None of these six pieces began with a script. Each began with people learning something together — and the order in which they appeared traces a path.

El camino arranca en La Habana. En 2012, dentro de KinoCuba —la variante habanera del laboratorio de creación audiovisual impulsado por Kinomada— y con raíces en el trabajo escénico «Morning Mood», se rodó Café templado (2012): dos mujeres perdidas se encuentran frente al mar, con Piñera e Ibsen al fondo. Dos años después llegó al Short Film Corner de Cannes (2014), y de ahí siguió viaje por festivales de Nueva York, Verona y Bergen. Es la prueba temprana del método: el corto que viajó lejos había nacido en un aula abierta.

The path begins in Havana. In 2012, within KinoCuba — the Havana edition of the audiovisual creation laboratory driven by Kinomada — and rooted in the stage work “Morning Mood”, Café templado (2012) was shot: two lost women meet by the sea, with Piñera and Ibsen in the background. Two years later it reached the Cannes Short Film Corner (2014), and from there went on to festivals in New York, Verona and Bergen. It is the method's earliest proof: the short that travelled far had been born in an open classroom.

El intercambio entre Cuba y Noruega venía tejiéndose desde 2012, y en 2013 el hilo cruzó a Bergen. Durante la residencia en Apropos Teater, el testimonio real de Målfrid Bruknapp —antropóloga de la Høgskolen i Bergen— sobre una experiencia cercana a la muerte se convirtió, en creación colectiva, en Historia de un corazón (2013).

The exchange between Cuba and Norway had been weaving itself since 2012, and in 2013 the thread crossed to Bergen. During the residency at Apropos Teater, the real testimony of Målfrid Bruknapp — an anthropologist at Høgskolen i Bergen — about a near-death experience became, through collective creation, The Story of a Heart (2013).

Katastrofen / La catástrofe (2014) hizo el viaje de vuelta: empezó en talleres y sesiones de investigación con Apropos Teater / Bergen Byspill y se concibió para el primer Festival Espacios Ibsen de La Habana. El festival no es un laurel posterior: es el origen de la pieza.

Katastrofen (2014) made the return journey: it began in workshops and research sessions with Apropos Teater / Bergen Byspill and was conceived for the first Espacios Ibsen Festival in Havana. The festival is not a later laurel: it is where the piece was born.

En Bergen, el método se hizo también escuela. De un taller de actuación para cámara con niños en Teaterskolen Paradis salió Érase el invierno (2015): una leyenda del norte filmada con sus propios protagonistas.

In Bergen, the method also became a school. From an acting-for-camera workshop with children at Teaterskolen Paradis came Once Upon the Winter (2015): a northern legend filmed with its own protagonists.

Y en la Høgskolen i Bergen / Bergen University College, el curso MASA203 «Community Work and Art» convocó dos laboratorios de aprendizaje en acción (2014 y 2016): estudiantes, docentes y artistas de Bergen y Madrid explorando, en el espíritu de Paulo Freire, el cuerpo, el ritmo y el bambú como herramientas de comunicación. De ahí nació el documental Cae una vara de bambú, se levanta una comunidad.

And at Høgskolen i Bergen / Bergen University College, the MASA203 course “Community Work and Art” convened two action-learning laboratories (2014 and 2016): students, teachers and artists from Bergen and Madrid exploring — in the spirit of Paulo Freire — body, rhythm and bamboo as tools of communication. From there came the documentary The Fall of the Bamboo.

El hilo no se ha detenido: sigue, ahora mismo, en Sevilla. En ASPACE Dos Hermanas, un grupo de mujeres lleva dos años trabajando el teatro, la expresión corporal y el juego escénico, y de ese recorrido está naciendo Cuerpos de Lorca. No una obra sobre ellas: una obra con ellas.

The thread has not stopped: it continues, right now, in Seville. At ASPACE Dos Hermanas, a group of women has spent two years working on theatre, bodily expression and stage play, and from that journey Cuerpos de Lorca is being born. Not a work about them: a work with them.

Seis obras, tres orillas, un mismo gesto: primero el proceso; la obra, después.
